Semi-automatic mode or position 1 one is when the twistlocks are fitted to the upper corner castings of a container. In this position they automatically turn and then lock fully when the next container is placed on top.
Manual mode position 2 (side and top) allows the twistlock to drop straight into the top aperture of upper corner castings.
Manual mode position 3 is when the twistlocks are fitted to container below and the upper cone is completely unlocked allowing the next container to drop straight onto the twistlock. It is also used to allow removal of the container placed above.
